Product & Fabrication Standards

All Extol fabricated insulation conforms to the exacting dimensional tolerances of ASTM C450 and ASTM C585, the governing standards for fabricated thermal insulation for pipe, fittings, valves, and equipment.

Extol fabricates to the applicable ASTM material standards across our full product line, including C552 (cellular glass), C591 (polyisocyanurate), C578 (extruded polystyrene), C1126 (phenolic), C547 (mineral fiber), C533 (calcium silicate), and C610 (expanded perlite).

Standards Leadership & Industry Involvement

Extol does not simply build to industry standards — the Extol team helps write them.

The Extol team has maintained strong and continual involvement in the National Insulation Association (NIA), including long-standing service on the NIA Fabrication Committee, and serves on multiple committees and are members across the regional contracting associations — CSIA, MICA, SEICA, and SWICA. Extol has represented the fabrication segment on ASTM International committees C450, C585, and C610 for more than a decade.

This is not honorary participation. It is sustained, hands-on work in the rooms where fabrication tolerances, material standards, and installation practices are debated and set — the same standards our customers specify and our competitors are measured against.

Extol is a consistent presence at the annual conferences and technical meetings of NIA, CSIA, MICA, SEICA, and SWICA, where our team engages directly with contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and specifying engineers across the industry.

Safety Recognition

Safety is not a program at Extol — it is a condition of doing the work. Our record reflects that.

Extol of Ohio, Inc. has been awarded Platinum-level safety recognition by the National Insulation Association (NIA), the Midwest Insulation Contractors Association (MICA), and the Central States Insulation Association (CSIA) — the highest safety tier each organization confers.

These recognitions are earned through documented safety practices, not applied for as a formality. They reflect the daily discipline of every member of the Extol team, on every shift, in every corner of our facility.

Safety award documentation is available upon request for qualified customers and vendor qualification purposes.

Community & Economic Development Recognition

Extol of Ohio, Inc. has been honored with business revitalization and economic development awards from both the City of Norwalk and the State of Ohio.

These recognitions were earned during the company’s formative years, as Extol relocated from a leased facility in Sandusky, purchased land, and built its first Norwalk plant — a period of sustained capital investment and job creation in Huron County. The company has since expanded that facility three times.

What began with eight employees now supports a workforce of more than 130. That growth remains the recognition Extol values most.
